The ICPI
Certified Method

Pavers only last decades if the **installation method** is flawless. We utilize the ICPI standard, ensuring proper excavation, geotechnical membrane, and deep compaction to lock your investment in place.

Zero Tolerance Base

We guarantee the base layer will not shift, eliminating future sinking and uneven surfaces.

Structural Guarantee

Walls over 4ft include engineered drawings and structural footings for safety compliance.

The Durability Difference

Pavers Should Be Flexible.
Poor Installation Is Not.

A low-bid paver installation often skips the deep sub-base prep, leading to sinking, shifting, and relentless weeds. We guarantee a perfectly level, stabilized surface.

The "Budget Install" Risk

Common Paver Failure Points

Sinking & Shifting

Caused by insufficient sub-base excavation. The pavers settle unevenly, creating dips where water pools and the surface cracks.

Weed Infestation

Using regular sand or skipping the weed barrier allows organic matter to root, requiring constant maintenance.

Retaining Wall Failure

Walls that collapse (due to no rebar, weak footing, or improper drainage) are a safety hazard and extremely expensive to rebuild.

The GAGA Method

Certified, Structural Installation

ICPI Sub-Base Prep

We excavate 6-8 inches and lay geotextile fabric beneath road base, then compact it perfectly to prevent settling and shifting.

Structural Engineering

We handle permits and engineering drawings for all structural walls, guaranteeing long-term safety and compliance on hillside properties.

Weed & Ant Proofing

We stabilize all joints with specialized polymeric sand, locking out weeds, grass, and ant hills permanently.

ICPI Certified Installation Guaranteed

Our Installation Protocol

The 4-Step ICPI
Certified Installation

We follow the strict standards of the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI) to guarantee your pavers resist shifting, cracking, and weeds for decades.

1. Layout & Prep

Excavation, setting the final grade, and demolition of old surfaces.

2. Sub-Base & Walls

Compacting gravel base, building structural retaining walls and footings.

3. Paver Lock-In

Setting blocks, final edging, and mechanical compaction to lock the pavers tight.

4. Stabilize & Seal

Sweeping in polymeric sand and applying sealant for permanent weed and stain resistance.

Structural Paver & Masonry Installation

Engineered for Beauty and Longevity

The lifespan of your hardscape depends entirely on the quality of the installation service. We are ICPI Certified Installers who build below the surface to ensure your pavers remain level, weed-free, and resistant to LA's seismic shifting for decades.

ICPI Base Preparation

We excavate deeper and use geo-textile fabric and deep compaction techniques to build a sub-base that locks your pavers in place permanently.

Structural Wall Engineering

Retaining walls over 3ft are engineered with proper setbacks, drainage, and structural reinforcement to manage hillside pressure safely.

Permanent Weed Block

We fill all paver joints with high-grade polymeric sand, which hardens like cement, stabilizing the surface and preventing weed/ant growth.

Water Permeability

Specializing in permeable pavers that allow water to drain through, helping to manage stormwater runoff and reduce flooding risks.

Pre-Installation Quality Check

Our process guarantees your installation will perform optimally and meet safety standards.

Pavers & Retaining Wall FAQ

Straight answers for LA homeowners about permitting, earthquake safety, and restoring your hardscape.

Do I need an LADBS permit to install or replace a retaining wall?

In Los Angeles, a permit is strictly required if your wall is **over 4 feet high** (measured from the bottom of the footing) or if it supports a "surcharge" (like a driveway or hillside slope above it). We handle the entire engineering and permitting process with LADBS to ensure your installation is code-compliant and safe.

My driveway pavers are sinking. Do I need a full replacement?

Not necessarily. This is often a **repair job**, not a replacement. Sinking is usually caused by base failure or water erosion. We can perform a "lift and relay" renovation: we remove the sunken stones, re-compact and level the base material, and reinstall the existing pavers. It is a cost-effective way to restore your driveway to like-new condition.

Why are pavers recommended over stamped concrete in Los Angeles?

Earthquake flexibility. Concrete is a rigid slab that inevitably cracks with ground movement and heat expansion. **Interlocking pavers are flexible**; they can shift slightly during seismic activity without cracking. Additionally, if a utility pipe breaks under your driveway, pavers can be unzipped and re-zipped, whereas concrete must be jackhammered and patched.

Can you repair a leaning or cracked retaining wall?

It depends on the severity. Minor surface cracks can be patched for aesthetics. However, if the wall is **leaning (bowing)** significantly, it usually indicates a drainage failure (hydrostatic pressure) or structural footing failure. In these cases, we may
